Old Aquarium Strain
CHR was found several times in the early part of the 20th century and by the middl of that century imports were trickling into Germany via Hartel and others around 1947-1948. Scheel mentioned in a letter in 1960 that he still had the "original straain from 1948". Arend_van_den_Nienwenhuizen photograpahed this fish which appeared in Hoedemans book in the same timeframe, and shows the original aquarium strain from the 1940s importations in Germany.

Later it was found CHR did not always look like this and in fact 20 different phenotypes were found in 1985 and 1986 "Haut Zaire" (HZ) expiditionns and the species had to be redefined by Huber and Jouke VDZ in 2006; see the refs link.
